In Situ Testing
In Situ Testing
Over 30 years’ experience in the development of a range of in situ soil testing tools
PACE Geotechnics staff have over 30 years’ experience in the development of a range of in situ soil testing tools. This includes a particular focus on pressuremeter testing equipment, as well as cone penetration testing equipment. We are able to offer pressuremeter testing equipment for hire including training if required delivered in advance.
Our high pressure dilatometers meet industry standard and are designed to be deployed in an ‘H’ sized bore and are capable of 20 MPa pressure and 30% radial strain, with 1 kPa / 1mm accuracy. The equipment is ideal for testing materials ranging from firm and stiff clays to strong rocks.
The instruments include a number of features to make them easy to use including totally enclosed electronics and through instrument jetting to clear sediment in the base of a test pocket.
Test can be interpreted to provide shear modulus, including small strain moduli down to 0.01% strain, undrained shear strength and in situ horizontal stress.
We have also developed a supersized cone penetrometer of 150 mm diameter to support a pile testing trial and currently have a cone pressuremeter in the final stages of development and an over-drilling system to allow CPT testing to overcome boulders, dense gravels and friction on the push rods.
